Paris on Alert: Rise in Petty Crime and Safety Hotspots
The Paris Police Préfecture has reported a 12% increase in pickpocketing since early June, especially in key tourist zones such as Montmartre, Châtelet-Les Halles, and near the Eiffel Tower. Thefts on public transit remain high, particularly on Metro lines 1 and 4.
Notable Incident
A coordinated pickpocket gang was apprehended at Gare du Nord this week. The gang had targeted tourists arriving from Charles de Gaulle.
